Nelson Dean is excited to be back for his third year on the Q2 staff. He was an Atlanta Quest member during the 2005 season, and performed as a scholastic member and individual multi-tenor soloist at PASIC in 2001 and 2002. He also performed with Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, Atlanta CV, and the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. Since stepping down from performance, Nelson has worked as a music educator, composer and arranger, and consultant. He has had the pleasure of teaching at Southwind, Spirit of Atlanta, and Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as a number of BOA and WGI finalist programs in the Atlanta area and beyond.

Nelson currently lives in Decatur, GA with his wife, who is a color guard judge and novelist, their three dogs, three cats, fifteen chickens, and 10,000 bees. He also teaches History, English, Art History, and Percussion Studies at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, GA where he works with the marching band program during the fall. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Georgia.
