Atlanta CV Welcomes New Administrative Leadership Team
Atlanta CV is excited to welcome our brand new Administrative Leadership team! Each of these individuals have joined us during our 25th anniversary, and we are excited to redefine and enhance CV’s operations, programming, and strategy through their leadership.
Russell Thompson
Executive Director
Russ Thompson comes to Atlanta CV with a wide variety of educational, administrative, and leadership experience rooted in the marching arts activity. He is a thirteen-year veteran music educator with high school and college level teaching experience in Georgia, Kentucky, and Alabama. Currently, he is in his third year teaching elementary music at the City Schools of Decatur.
The passion Russ has for the marching arts activity and music education has been cultivated over 25 years. From 1999-2002, Russ was a marching member of Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps, based in Lexington, KY. He then went on earning his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Alabama (2005), Master’s of Education from Auburn University (2007), and Master’s of Instrumental Conducting from Georgia State University (2012).
When asked about his desire to join the administrative team for Atlanta CV, Russ expressed, “I’m looking forward to this next step in my drum corps journey. As a performer, teacher, and director, I’ve seen many faces of the activity and I’m excited to bring my experience to CV in an administrative role to help ensure the success and safety of all of our performers and staff as they strive to reach their competitive goals.”
MaryMason McWhorter Huber
Assistant Director
MaryMason McWhorter Huber comes to Atlanta CV with 14 years in the marching arts starting with a career in baton twirling and most recently working on the admin team with the Boston Crusaders. MaryMason is a Georgia native and an alumna of the Oconee County High School Warrior Marching Band and Winterguard. She then went to Auburn University, where she was on the Tiger Eyes Flag Line and a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, honorary music fraternity. She studied Dance and Arts Administration at Auburn, working with the Jule Collins Smith Art Museum and Auburn Pointe.
She was a performer with Paramount World Winterguard from 2015-2016, and she has taught at several high schools throughout the southeast. In the drum corps community, MaryMason marched the 75th anniversary 2015 Boston Crusaders color guard and worked on the administrative and operations team from 2016-2019. Outside the marching arts, MaryMason current works at Pottery Barn in administration and logistics roles. She resides in Atlanta with her husband, Grayson, and puppy, Friday. She is overjoyed to share her experience and love of drum corps so close to home with such a wonderful group like CV!
Sue Nedvidek
CFO / Treasurer
Sue Nedvidek was first introduced to Atlanta CV in 2015 through her son, Michael. Since then, she has been an avid supporter of the Corps from the sidelines.
Since graduating from Wake Forest University in 1987, Sue has worked extensively for numerous nonprofit organizations in finance roles, including the Kennesaw Mountain Band Boosters organization. Through her experience, she brings a detailed understanding nonprofit financial management and budgeting, critical topics for the corps.
Sue lives in Kennesaw with her husband, Steve, and enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with her family, especially her 2-year old granddaughter. She is excited to come out of retirement to take on the role of Treasurer of Atlanta CV and serve the dedicated staff, members, and volunteers as a financial leader. She will also lead our tax reporting process and work to enhance financial transparency and awareness between the Board of Directors and administrative team.
Caroline Maughon
Secretary
Caroline Maughon is local to the marching arts community in Georgia, with nearly 15 years of experience as a performer and educator. She is currently the Assistant Director at Edge Independent Winter Guard, based in Suwanee, GA, where she has taught since the group’s return to WGI in 2020.
Outside of the marching arts, Caroline has an extensive administrative background, currently working as a Client Service Operations Specialist for a wealth management firm in Buckhead. She is excited to bring her communication skills, administrative efficiencies, and other expertise to her new role as Secretary at Atlanta CV.
