Atlanta CV Welcomes New Brass Caption Head

Atlanta CV is thrilled to announce Mark Hoskins will be joining this season as the new Brass Caption Head. Mark comes with impressive credentials.

Said Alan Armstrong, Co-Program Coordinator, “We’re ecstatic to have someone with the qualifications and experience such as Mark to join our corps. I know he’ll be extremely effective in his role as the Brass Caption Head for Atlanta CV, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him with us.”

Mark Hoskins is Director of Bands at Wheeler High School, part of the Cobb County School District, in Marietta, and has taught in the county for nineteen years. With over thirty years of experience in the marching pageantry field, he teaches and oversees the entire band program, consisting of three concert bands, marching band, jazz ensemble, jazz combo, woodwind and brass choirs, winter guard, and percussion ensembles. A graduate of East Tennessee State University, Mr. Hoskins is in constant demand as an adjudicator, clinician, and conductor in the marching band, jazz, and concert band arena. His program at Wheeler is regionally and nationally recognized in those fields as well, consistently receiving superior ratings and best in class awards. While at ETSU, Mr. Hoskins had the opportunity to perform with many of the jazz greats of our time, including Jon Faddis, Ed Shaughnessy, Allen Vizzuti, Dick Oates of Flim and the BBs, and Ernie Watts. He was also a four- year member(’81-’84) and featured mellophone soloist with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, in Atlanta GA. Mr. Hoskins later became the visual caption head for the corps in 2001 and was brass caption head for the 2005 Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Hoskins is a brass adjudicator for Drum Corps International (DCI) and a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, JEN, and a founding member of Minority Band Directors National Association. He is happily married to Maggy Hoskins, with two wonderful children.

Dr. David W. Stollberg, Executive Director stated, “Mark is a great addition to our corps and brings a wealth of experience.  I’m excited to have him in this new role with Atlanta CV.”
